What is involved in pediatric well-child care? 

At routine wellness visits, we devote time and attention to ensuring your kids are developing to their optimal physical, emotional, and mental abilities.  

We offer age-appropriate counseling for a wide range of pediatric issues including:

• normal childhood development

• healthy diet and physical activity

• sports safety

• adolescent risk behaviors

• and more

We believe that immunizations play an important role in reducing the burden and communicability of disease in our community. As such, we provide a low-cost direct payment option for selected immunizations and administer these on-site.

What about pediatric sick visits and injuries? 

As family physicians, we are well trained to attend to childhood acute illness and injuries, including but not limited to the following: 

• Common injuries: ankle sprains, simple fractures, concussions, cuts, burns, scrapes, splinters

• Common illnesses: colds, flu, pneumonia, strep throat, stomach bugs, pediatric rashes, ear infections, coughs, vomiting, asthma exacerbations. 
  

We treat chronic pediatric conditions such as asthma, allergies, acne, diabetes, and depression across the continuum of care in the context of wellness, acute care, and chronic care encounters. For those conditions outside the scope of primary care, we will assist in getting the specialty care our pediatric patients need. We collaborate with specialists and bring that care back to your medical home, at Santa Cruz Direct Primary Care.
